The more modern themes that each film has are indeed hugely relevant and should be expected to be played out across horror films produced in the 21 st century. As for Laurie’s Halloween Ends alternative ending, on the other hand, David doesn’t elaborate quite so much as he did with Corey, but a version of the ending would see her die.

It’s more cerebral (or at least it thinks it is), and much more character focused than previous entries.

The film really works the quiet moments allowing big locations like the opening house plenty of atmosphere. Hair is fine and clearly delineated, while skin pores and fine lines are clear, while clothing has subtle yet obvious differentials in their overall texture. The forty-year journey of horror icon Laurie Strode and the original bogeyman Michael Myers ended with a terrifying whimper instead of the bang fans everywhere wanted and demanded.
