You only need to set up the Bluetooth connection once. After that, the shutter button on the front of the ProGrip will operate the camera in the same way as its on-screen shutter/record button. The Bluetooth button is still useful if you need to use a different device or reset the connection for any reason. The final lens in the MultiLens case is a 180 Degree Fisheye Lens. This lens will let you express your creativity however you’d like from a fun and unique perspective. I don’t imagine most people will leave these accessories attached to their phones full-time, but that’s okay because they all just snap into place when needed and pull off when done.

The biggest problem mobile photographers have faced for a long time is that the powerful, and very capable cameras in their phones are not always the easiest to hold and use. ShiftCam wanted to create a grip that would make that problem cease to exist. I have to say, the ShiftCam ProGrip does a mighty fine job of making your phone handle like a DSLR. For reference, I used the ProGrip with my iPhone 11 Pro Max with no problems whatsoever. Pros Even though we only got to tests the less at The Photography Show, we were able to test them on a pretty wide range of subjects considering we were inside an exhibition hall. The ProLens comes with a microfiber lens bag and magnetic lens cap to ensure your new lens stays clean and safe from harm while traveling to your shoot location. You can stash your lenses in your gear bag without worrying about the normal bumps and jiggles of travel.I haven't had this familiar feeling of using a phone grip for taking shots since the LG G6 camera module. That being said, the ergonomics made it really feel close to holding a DSLR camera. With the addition of a swing grip, wireless charging and let's not forget, acting as a stand as well really eases up things. While it does not completely eliminate the shakiness when taking shots, it lessens the struggle of pressing the shutter button of the phone camera due to the shutter button of the grip.

The ProLens by Shiftcam is a universally adaptable product, thanks to the unique universal mount. The ProLens can be attached to an iPhone, Samsung, OnePlus, or Pixel. It can also be used with iPads and laptops. I did hit a snag here in testing: the long, braided USB-C to USB-C cable provided in the box didn’t provide any charge when I connected it from ProGrip to my phone. Replacing the cable with a much shorter one did convince it to charge, so this is something you may need to watch for. ShiftCam ProGrip extras These lenses are lightweight and easy to transport. Depending on which ProLens you choose, it will weigh between 33 and 80 grams. They’re made from high-quality aluminum and DSLR-grade glass. The lenses are also nano-coated to ensure a scratch-resistant surface. The magnet is at its strongest when it comes to shearing force. Trying to slide the phone off laterally against the SnapGrip is challenging to do casually, which is great. The easiest way to get the phone off the SnapGrip is to peel it from the grip side because you get some leverage off the MagSafe side where the phone overhangs. This would be how the magnets are weakest, but it’s still good enough to where I never felt the need to totally baby the kit. Yes, you’ll always need to keep in mind that it’s held together by magnets, but it’s not such a distraction that it gets in the way of enjoyment.

One other issue with my review sample is that the built-in ball head cannot tightly hold the weight of a phone and other SnapGrip accessories. ShiftCam stated that this would be fixed in production models and is caused by smooth paint applied to the ball head. The company plans to have the ball head textured with no paint in the production models. With a single press, you can take a photo; with a longer press, begin capturing video. Setting up the shutter takes less than 30 seconds and requires simply using the iPhone's Bluetooth tool. The sample images that we got from the 75mm and 10X macro make it hard to believe they're taken on a phone camera. The detail and sharpness of the areas in focus are really impressive while the out-of-focus areas with bokeh is smooth and silky.
