House Greyjoy rules the Iron Islands and worships the Drowned God. Talisker was a natural pair for House Greyjoy as this single malt is distilled on the shores of the Isle of Skye, one of the most remote and rugged areas of Scotland. The layered flavors and signature maritime character of Talisker Select Reserve are the result of its wave-battered shores. This liquid is an intense smoky single malt scotch with spicy, powerful and sweet elements combined with maritime flavors. Royal Lochnagar 12-year-old – House Baratheon Game of Thrones Diageo’s unparalleled diverse range of distilleries in Scotland, much like in Westeros, each have their own unique characteristics and produce a distinctive whisky representative of its local terroir. These similarities were the inspiration behind the collection, drawing an authentic storyline bet Paired with House Tully is The Singleton of Glendullan. The power of water flows through both House Tully and The Singleton of Glendullan Select. It is decorated with a jumping trout, the sigil of House Tully. Lagavulin 9 Year Old: Sweet smoke on the nose with a whiff of sea breeze. The palate is smoky with notes of caramelized banana, smooth vanilla and charred marshmallow. The finish is dry and light with subtle salted caramel. A great opportunity to collect all 9 bottles being released as part of the build up to the 8th and final season of HBO's Game of Thrones series, whish is set to air April 14th 2019. In collaboration with Diageo, 9 iconic, limited release single malts have been paired with the 7 kingdoms of Westeros and the Night's Watch, to create a truly unique collection that's a must for series fans and serious collectors alike.Talisker Select Reserve: Dry Sichuan pepper smoke and dark chocolate aromas on the nose. The palate has a distinctive maritime quality enhanced by caramel notes, spice, smoke, and fruit. The finish is lingering and complex with a leathery character. Palate: Again, that classic Oban chocolate-orange thing is front and center, but there’s some extra lactic tang in the finish reminiscent of leesy chardonnay. The finish is strong, with yeasty bread, shortbread, and a drying sensation that invites another sip. Lean and muscular. A little bit plain, but nicely enjoyable. House Stark’s resiliency, strength and ability to thrive under the most intense situations are greatly shaped by Winterfell’s frigid temperatures. Dalwhinnie, known for being one of the highest distilleries in all of Scotland is cold and remote much like Thee North where House Stark calls home, making the two an iconic pairing. Extreme conditions are responsible for shaping the signature Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost honeyed sweetness and spicy warmth. Naturally, it’s best served chilled or over ice. Cardhu Gold Reserve – House Targaryen Game of Thrones Palate: Mild, building to a malt-driven peak with fresh berries and a touch of crisp citrus. Full-bodied and artful. The tapering, malt-driven finish has biscuits with marmalade, nutmeg, and some nice evolved woody tannin. An interesting mix of confectionery, fruit, and holiday baking space, integrated and textured.

Mark: “For whisky lovers this is an exciting collection, primarily because some of the bottles (not all!) contain a completely new variation of their beloved Scotch, such as Lagavulin, Talisker or Clynelish. The Glendullan was originally only available in the United States, but now comes to Europe as well. Mark: “It only takes a little bit of imagination to link the whisky to the House it represents. For example: linking Talisker to the House Greyjoy makes sense. Talisker is a coastal distillery on the Isle of Skye, while the House Greyjoy are a sea-faring people that worship the Drowned God and live on the coast of the Iron Islands. The collection makes sense from this point of view. On the other hand, it is also a means that Diageo can reach the majority of Game of Thrones viewers who are not yet into whisky. This crossover will introduce many new consumers to the delights of whisky and maybe move them away from vodka or other 'lighter' drinks.”Nose: Orange zest, milk chocolate, gentle peat smoke, apple, pear, lemon, tangerine. Very appealing. Palate: Very sweet and a little earthy up front, with some dried banana, strong smoke, clove, burnt caramel, salty dark caramel, and lots of saline maritime goodness, with mint, cannabis, and lanolin peeking through. The long finish is oddly cooling and refreshing, with spearmint, eucalyptus, ash, and salt. Very fun. Dalwhinnie Winter's Frost: Honeyed sweetness and spicy warmth. The palate delivers sweet notes of honey and fresh fig followed by maltiness and decadent fruit cake. In honor of the seven Houses of Westeros, and the legendary Night’s Watch, this collection delivers rich flavors and brilliant illustrations sure to captivate true Game of Thrones fans. Crafted from 100% malted Scottish barley using unique production techniques these single malts are aged in a variety of oak casks. Capturing the House Stark is Dalwhinnie, one of the highest distilleries in Scotland that mirrors House Stark’s resiliency, strength and ability to thrive under the most frigid, extreme temperatures. House Targaryen is aptly paired with legendary Scotch house Cardhu. Scotland's own mother of dragons, the rebellious Helen Cumming, trail-blazed the success in making Cardhu one of the most iconic names in Scotch.
