And lastly Dede, Billy’s sister. Now we don’t get to see her much but I’d like to talk about the chat she had with Lindy towards the end of the book. She said she was scared Billy wouldn’t be able to focus on his work when Lindy, the girl he has known for a week, leaves. If his ability to focus and work ethic is that bad, he shouldn’t be running a business in the first place. And Dede, you shouldn’t have invested a lot of money into a boy with the mental capacity of a frying pan. Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber is a contemporary romance that is set during the Christmas holiday season. This sweet romance is one of finding hope again during the holidays. Lindy Carmichael has returned to her hometown of Wenatchee, Washington to spend time with her family for Christmas even though Lindy is not the most cheerful herself. Lindy had thought she had a wonderful relationship until she found out that her boyfriend had been cheating with her best friend. I have never met a Debbie Macomber story that didn’t pull on my heart strings and DEAR SANTA did not disappoint. It is kind of predictable but I still loved every minute of it. It is a sweet story filled with family, emotions that will have you smiling and tearing up, second chances and no bad language or sex scenes. I look forward to Debbie Macomber’s holiday stories every year and as soon as I know they are coming I’m filled with excitement. Debbie has a way of pulling her readers right in and making them fall in love with all of her characters. I found myself cheering for Lindy and hoping she would be able to remember what Christmas is all about.

After that Lindy never saw Billy at school because he moved somewhere else and Lindy thought it was because of her, but when Lindy reconnects with Billy she learns that he moved away because Billy's father left the family. Dear Santa by Debbie Macomber is a sweet, holiday romance that is both heartwarming and delightful. This book could easily turn into a Hallmark movie as it’s everything you’d expect on the Hallmark Channel for a holiday movie. There are enough cute Christmassy events, but not too much to make it saccharine. Asking questions while reading to your preschooler is a fun way to engage them in the story. You can ask questions that will help your child build comprehension skills as well as assess what they already know about a topic. Here are some questions for this book to get you going. The story was weird and it was hard to connect to the characters. Especially our MC Lindy. Let me tell you something folks, do not leave your dream job you just received a promotion from for a boy you have known for a week. Not in this economy. Not ever. Lindy needs to set her priorities straight.Reading through a box of childhood letters to Santa and reminiscing about what she'd wished for as a young girl may be just the inspiration Lindy needs. With Ellen's encouragement, she decides to write a new letter to Santa, one that will encourage her to have faith and believe just as she'd done all those years ago. Little does Lindy know that this exercise in gratitude will cause her wishes to unfold before her in miraculous ways. And, thanks to some fateful twists of Christmas magic--especially an unexpected connection with a handsome former classmate--Lindy ultimately realizes that there is truly no place like home for the holidays. In the Author’s Note, Macomber shares a story about how this story came to be, a brief question of an eleven-year-old girl, her husband’s cousin’s granddaughter, a girl who had decided she wanted to write books. When she asked this young girl when she decided she wanted to write books, her answer was “I knew when I started writing Santa letters.’

She continues to rummage through the box, and discovers the other letters to Santa, including one saying that he ’should give Billy Kincade coal. He’s mean. He pulls my hair at school and chases me at recess.’ The love interest Billy was weird. He reminded me of the Man Bun guy from Brooklyn 99. (It appears his name is Constantine for the fellow B99 fans.) And it has nothing to do with his hair. He was rushing into everything and it weirded me out. He asked Lindy to move to their hometown so they could be together when they’ve been dating for A FEW DAYS. Like, excuse me? It was not cute. If someone I dated for literally 3 days asked me to move to a whole different city for them, I’d throw hands and dip. No joke. A special holiday wish list brings about hope, love, and second chances in this nostalgic novel from the queen of Christmas stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber. I recommend Dear Santa to readers of Women's Fiction and for fans of Debbie Macomber. If you enjoy reading a great Christmas Romance you will enjoy this novel. This book is a stand alone read.Lindy arrives, and soon after her mother shares an old shoe box with Lindy, containing some of Lindy’s things, including her letters to Santa. At first she can’t understand why her mother kept this, and isn’t interested in reading them, but her mother insists. Opening the box, she reads what she had written in her first letter to Santa, written when she was five: Lindy’s mother wanted to cheer up Lindy when she arrived so she shared Lindy’s old childhood letters to Santa with her. After reading the stories from when she was young Lindy can’t help but hope for a little Christmas magic to still exist and writes another letter wishing for a new best friend and boyfriend this Christmas. Peggy, the so-called best friend, was also very creepy. She made me feel like I was reading a horror book. She was doing EVERYTHING in her power to make Lindy stay. And whenever Lindy refused, she literally manipulated her. She made her believe the reason she didn't want to leave her stable job in the biggest company in her field and her apartment with a lease was because Lindy didn't want to make her ex feel like he won. HOW ARE THE TWO CONNECTED? Also, Peggy asked Lindy to be her housemate since she "needed one" and I know for a fact she murdered her old housemate so Lindy could move in.
