The installation was designed for its first showing at the 20 th European Patchwork Meeting in 2014 with the intention that it would be added to and changed as the project developed. I decided to line the work chronologically. A section of lace or line of stitch would carry through one to another of the pieces in sequence.Remembrance Day 2023 will take place on Friday, 11th of November. Remembrance Day is celebrated every year on the 11th of November. This is because during WW1, the conflict ended “at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”. Dave's work is inspired by his own personal experiences and events involving his comrades, or they are often based on requests from the public; usually to remember actions or events that they, or their loved ones, were involved in. One important moment that happens every year on Remembrance Day is a two-minute silence. Held at 11:00 a.m. on the 11 November, the silence takes place across the country. Many TV channels and radio stations ask audience members to join them in holding a silence. There are even announcements about the silence in supermarkets!The plastic-free poppy is created from bespoke red and green paper manufactured by specialist papermaker James Cropper.
