I do play the lottery occasionally but after reading this book I will not be participating in a lottery pool!🙈 Yeah, instant money changes everything and reveals the true nature of people that is not pleasant sometimes. I think this book seems like a good read.

Listened to Audio: Very good audio with lots of different voices used. I've heard this speaker before in many other books I have listened to. Lexi Greenwood is determined to use much of the winnings to promote good causes but the rest of the Greenwood family launch into an extravagant and self-indulgent spending spree for which, as often occurs in such matters, there are consequences. There are various strands to the plot culminating in a near catastrophe and, as the story unfolds, we view the action through the eyes of both Lexi and her teenage daughter, Emily. There is a subplot involving a foreign national, Toma, who has lost his family in a tragedy which, initially seems tangential, but later becomes very much part of the ongoing narrative.

And thus begins not only the unraveling of years long friendships, but secrets, deceits, lies and hidden agendas which had been hidden for many years. As the group breaks apart, their children who have been friends since birth must decide whose side they are taking. And some of them decide to take their jealousy a bit too far.

Book Review: Just My luck by Adele Parks - In-Common Book Review: Just My luck by Adele Parks - In-Common

I loved the social economic dynamic of the book it really brought into the issues that arise wirh money. I loved the syndicate element of the book as I know from experience money changes people this book just supports that. I could of read this book all way through again and again,@@ . I felt that the character of Jake was very unlikeable and this made me wonder why Lexi hadn’t spotted all his awful traits before the lottery win. ( a bit unbelievable.) I also thought Emily’s chapters weren’t really written in fifteen year old’s language. (Very adult concepts in places.) Like a deft magician, this book reveals its twists only at the very end, I was completely astonished’ Rosamund LuptonMany of the scenes take place at the elementary school so students will be able to identify with many school events. Benny is very concerned with making and keeping friends. He talks a lot about friendships and analyzes them with deep sincerity. But then, one Saturday night, the unthinkable happens. There’s a rift in the group. Someone doesn’t tell the truth. And soon after, six numbers come up which change everything forever. Lexi is the one that wants to keep things as normal as they are, plan for their future, have small luxuries and then keep the rest of the money mostly as savings, and donate some of it to charity and try to help other people. Imagine winning the lottery after you’ve just had a falling out with your best friends that you just happened to be in a lottery syndicate with the week before. He is being crass. I am not sure what the elegant response to winning nearly eighteen million pounds is, but I doubt it is demanding the money like a highway robber.
