Some actions are available all the time, others can only be used if they are present on the revealed action cards. Actions: Build a Cathedral Each player rolls the dice to which he is entitled: one yellow die per citizen located in City Hall, one white die per citizen located in the Bishopric, one red die per citizen located in the Palace. Prehistoric evidence has been found in the Troyes area, suggesting that the settlement may have developed as early as 600 BC. Celtic grave-mounds have been found near the city, and Celtic artifacts have been excavated within the City grounds. [3]

You must first hire a tradesman by paying the amount in deniers indicated in the upper-left part of the card. Place a citizen of your color on a free space on the card to act as the tradesman. It could be compared to Alien Frontiers, a cosmic-themed game of planetary development and resource management. You build colony domes in strategic locations and aim to control the newly discovered world. A game lasts 6 rounds with 4 players (5 rounds with 3 players, 4 rounds with 2 players). The first 3 rounds each comprise 6 phases. Thereafter, each turn comprises 5 phases:

If he cannot pay the salaries for all his citizens, he pays what he can, then loses 2VP (a player with no VPs loses nothing).

Troyes Game Review — Meeple Mountain Troyes Game Review — Meeple Mountain

Overall the components are good but in the spirit of many euros they’re nothing to write home about. Gameplay The game was designed by Sebastien Dujardin, the manager of Pearl Games, Xavier Georges, and Alain Orban. The illustrations were done by Alexandre Roche. Game Components the player who placed the second-most cubes earns the smaller VP reward. In the case of a tie for second place, the tied players divide the VPs for 2nd place (rounded down to the nearest whole number), Most surprising to me is how much the game actually reflects the real-life balance of power that existed in the city through its various religious, military and mercantile groups, and how the event cards actually map (fairly) well to many tragedies that befell Troyes during the Middle Ages.Either way, this isn’t an easy game to learn. I actually disliked my first play of Troyes for similar reasons. Each round you will be allocated a number of dice depending on how much presence you have in three buildings. There are three colours of dice and each one leans in a certain direction more than the others - yellow are generally better for earning coins, red for fighting of events and white for rebuilding the Cathedral. Not having suffered from the last wars, Troyes has a high density of old religious buildings grouped close to the city centre. They include: Troyes is a worker placement, dice rolling game. With area control and hidden objectives thrown in for good measure. Players will allocate meeples at the start of the game to the three main parts of the city: the church, the castle and the town hall. Each meeple represents a die. You will recruit and roll to apply to various activities, which are openly visible on the board. However, you also have hidden objectives that are shared – but you only know the one you’ve drawn.
