Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: In Earthrise, Optimus has two opportunities to kill Megatron. The first time, he points out that given the company Megatron keeps fighting the Autobots, having an enemy to point his army at, will be the only thing that grants them consistent peace before they eventually turn on each other, something Megatron wordlessly admits by agreeing to a brief ceasefire until they can get their bearings. The second time, he's determined to kill him but can't bring himself to pull the trigger until he hears Megatron say he forgives him for the act. Never My Fault: Megatron blames Optimus for the devastating war he put Cybertron through due to the Autobot leader not unconditionally surrendering to his tyrannical rule. Fantastic Racism: The Decepticons were essentially the working class of Cybertron, forced to mine Energon to enable the opulent lives the Autobots lived. After Alpha Trion and later Megatron's revolution, there is a general animosity between the Autobots and Decepticons, of course, but they're referred to as separate "species", and the characters tend to take an immediate disliking to someone of the opposing faction, so it's sort of this. You will stand down. If you fight, you die. There is no room anymore for mercy. In the end, you are all expendable. Choose. Megatron's ultimatum to Starscream's renegade troops, Infiltration #6 On their way off the planet, Optimus mused that one day Megatron might understand that the two of them were much stronger as a united force. When I began to transform my copy of this figure I realized that the right hand did not form properly when this figure came off the assembly line. On my copy of Megatron there is extra plastic on the hinge, so when I try to push Megatron's fist into the forearm it will not go all the way. Inside the Quintesson's kangaroo court, Optimus Prime was put on trial for public mayhem, treason, and galactic blasphemy. Optimus Prime's brainwashed troops corroborated the Quintesson prosector's line of inquiry. However, Megatron himself came to Optimus's defense, asserting that the Quintessons did not create the Transformers as they so claimed. The trial had also jogged Megatron's memories; he remembered fighting in the war that routed the aliens from Cybertron and vowed that he'd gladly do it again. The Quintesson judges found them innocent, and so sentenced the two leaders to banishment. Whoever killed the other leader in combat would be allowed to leave Aquatron unmolested. The two leaders battled, unaware that the Quintessons were harvesting the energy they exerted to power a space bridge to Cybertron. When the Quintessons had enough, they dumped both of them into a Pirahnacon pit. Optimus and Megatron managed to escape the Pirahnacons with the help of Optimus's Matrix, and escaped into the subterranean tunnels beneath Hydratron. Scaled to the same height as 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime, Masterpiece Megatron is designed to depict a fairly show-accurate Megatron capable of transforming into a realistic (if oversized) Walther P-38, with the result being an incredibly complex figure and potentially one of the most complicated Transformers toys to date. On Earthrise Megatron it is just one large section with the square "control panel" in the center. Impactor and Jetfire. The former is rescued by Ratchet, helps several people in Ratchet's makeshift clinic, and dies protecting him while he activates the space bridge. The latter defects to the Autobots after realizing that Megatron is perpetuating genocide, aids the Autobots in locating the Allspark, and stays behind on Cybertron to guard it.
