Did you know from the beginning of the series that Electra’s story would be partly based in Kenya? How did you approach your research there? At least when Pa Salt had been alive, I’d known he couldn’t see what I was doing, but now he was dead, he’d somehow become omnipresent; he could have been in the bedroom with me last night or even here in the limo right now … I remembered how astonished I’d been that he hadn’t been angrier at yet another of my failures. Just kind of disappointed, I suppose, which had taken the wind out of my sails.The one thing that impressed me so much about this book is for it to be very vivid. I felt like I was really with those characters living in those moments and all my emotions moved with them. That's why I loved it so much. Romances were not the center of these stories at all, which was another happy aspect. It was so rich with other historical details and the wholistic story, we didn't need a love story to do the heavy lifting. It absolutely PAINS me to give this book such a low rating. It hurts my heart because this book series has been some of my most enjoyable reading experiences. I have just adored the previous five books detailing where on the map each sister came from.
