Another element to keep in mind is the number of lights in each mask. More lightbulbs means that your face will receive more coverage. However, a larger number of lightbulbs doesn't necessarily equate to a better mask. Each mask employs a different spectrum of light wavelengths and produces a different color to target skin concerns.

What they do: In a nutshell, blue LEDs cause P. acnes bacteria to implode. Since P. acnes bacteria are often a contributing factor to one’s breakout, this leads to a faster return to blemish-free skin. Unlike topical acne treatments, which can sometimes dry out skin as they clear it, blue LEDs only impact P. acnes bacteria, leaving everything else untouched. Dr. Dendy Engelman, MD, FACMS, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologic surgeon in New York. Engelman is an award-winning celebrity dermatologist and is often featured in the media as a consultant. With that in mind, I’m happy to say that my skin looked so much better while using the mask. I already use an AHA face serum to help with scars but I found that they went away so much faster when using the mask. I also noticed that I was more likely to get acne if I had gone a few days without using the mask, so it’s true what they say: consistency is key. Are all my pimples magically gone? No—I still get hormonal acne around that time of the month. However, I’ve found that I get fewer random pimples throughout my time using the mask. c. Please try a different outlet. These tests will allow us to determine if the cord, base or outlet is faulty and the cause of the device issues. For the best results, use the Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite™ Faceware Pro on cleansed skin. Key Benefits b. Please try a different USB -A charging base. The device is designed to be used with a Standard USB-A 5V 1-2A base. We do not recommend using high voltage charging bases when charging the FaceWare Pro. The device will not charge when using any other base besides a USB-A base

Persist, though, and you'll be rewarded. Having tried multiple in-office LED sessions to counteract occasional breakouts or inflammation (administered by dermatologists and aestheticians), I've noticed that my skin looks calmer and clearer for a surprising amount of time with consistent treatment—weeks instead of days compared with topical facials. And there's no downtime or posttreatment redness to contend with, which is always a bonus. Still, I've often wondered if at-home versions of these treatments could accurately duplicate these results. I've briefly flirted with a couple of handheld LED pens before, but you can tell just by looking at them that they're not very practical for covering a large surface area when you get multiple surprise pimples. I'd rather spend 10 seconds dabbing on a zit cream. You can perform one three-minute treatment per day, either in the morning or at night. However, the brand does not recommend doubling up on treatments (i.e., using the red light treatment directly followed by the blue light treatment.) After you’re done using the mask, the brand recommends wiping it down with a damp cloth or alcohol wipe to keep it clean. One full charge will get you between eight and ten treatments. My Review The basic bulb in your desk lamp? All it produces (aside from light, of course) is heat. Even if you throw a crimson scarf over it, you’re still only getting warmth and a red-tinged room (plus, a possibly burnt scarf)—not a skin treatment. Be conscious of your skin needs and the treatment duration. Individuals with sensitive and hyperpigmentation-prone skin should focus on longer treatments with lower irradiance, Dr. Rogers advised. “Higher irradiance increases the likelihood of heat buildup, activating melasma and drying out the skin. Also, there is data suggesting too much energy delivered too fast overpowers cells and the energy is not able to be used. Instead, better outcomes are achieved with slower and lower light treatments… but anything too low will not have a biological effect.” However, it's important to know that the results of light-therapy treatments are cumulative, meaning you won’t see long-term benefits from that single salon facial you treat yourself to once a year. If regular appointments aren’t an option, investing in an at-home LED mask could be the answer. Blue: “This is often used in home LED masks as a treatment for acne, due to its ability to reduce sebum (grease production) and the amount of the acne-inducing bacteria on the skin,” says Dr Wong.
