Description

The Fate We Heartbreak , is the first volume of a remarkable, occasionally tragic. but ultimately redemptive coming-of-age story. From an early age, Simone Warren recognized that she was caught between her family’s expectations and her need to find her own path and voice. Born into a Singaporean Chinese family and a life rooted in tradition, her story is a stunning tale of survival and an inspiring look at how we can learn to move beyond trauma to forge a path toward finding happiness. Raised in a family populated with strong women but laced with the strife of the generations that preceded her, Simone’s life story reads like an inter-continental odyssey that follows her from an exceptional childhood through her tumultuous teens and toward young womanhood – as she endeavours to make peace with a decision that she will live with forever. Recounting in beautiful detail the lives of the powerful women who shaped her family and how their stories informed her place in the world, this first instalment in a trilogy of deeply personal memoirs is an unflinching look at finding oneself in the midst of crushing expectation and unexpected tragedy. Journeying beyond survival to success. If you're a fan of memoirs or strong female stories I highly recommend reading this book! I’m definitely looking forward to reading book 2. Simone Warren was born in Singapore in 1969, the third generation of Straits-born Chinese who migrated from China to 'Si Lat Po', a then British colony. Simone left Singapore for Britain in 1989 to study English and Drama at Westfield College and the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, University of London, whose illustrious alumni include Laurence Olivier, Judi Dench, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. At university, she was President of the Creative Writing Society. Simone has worked for global organisations including Siemens, BT, Alibaba and Microsoft, where she was a senior director running a multimillion-dollar Cloud Computing business. She lives in Cambridgeshire, UK, with her husband and two grown-up children.

Heartbreak is the first instalment of the trilogy by Simone Warren. In this book the author writes about her true life story . She is born into a Singaporean Chinese family . We get to see her growing up and grooming herself as young woman. Glimpses of her childhood and adolescent days are . How she faces Cultural boundaries, expectations and pressure of society , generational struggles and her strength in finding A huge treat for all fans of Jane Eyre.' KATIE LUMSDEN, author of The Secrets of Hartwood Hall'A sublime and tenderly written novel.' BEA FITZGERALD, author of Girl, Goddess, QueenAll Bronte Ellis has ever known is life at St. Mary's all-boys boarding school, where he lingered first as a student and then as a teaching assistant. This is honestly one of the most interesting memoirs I have ever read. In 'The Fate We Make' Simone recounts, not only hers, but her family's story. Each woman has their own story to tell and each one of them persevered through whatever life threw at them. I am in awe of these women and of Simone. They have been through so much...yet hope was never truly lost and I think that's such a beautiful message in itself.Raised in a family populated with strong women but laced with the strife of the generations that preceded her, Simone's life story reads like an inter-continental odyssey that follows her from an exceptional childhood, through her tumultuous teens and toward young womanhood - as she endeavours to make peace with a decision that she will love with forever. Simone, who now lives in Cambridgeshire, says that her actions left her feeling so guilty that she entered a phase of “self-sabotage”, entering into ill-considered and abusive relationships because she felt that “she deserved the punishment”. The biggest problem, however, was that Simone kept it all to herself, feeling duty-bound to adhere to a crippling Asian cultural tradition to always “save face” passed down through the generations. I became so invested in Simone’s story. Each time something terrible happened to her, I felt for her, and I audibly sighed with relief once Doug came along. The story focuses heavily on how Simone’s romantic and familial relationships have effected her.

Born into a Singaporean Chinese family, Simone has seen many ups and downs in her life. From going through depression, addiction, abortion, and other miseries, she has made her own way through navigating her past, her relationships, family expectations, and tradition.Another thing I loved was learning more about Signapore and the culture and traditions that took root here. It was so interesting to read about! Simone was born to a family with traditions deeply rooted in their Singaporean Chinese ancestry. As Simone grows up, she is torn by her desire to follow the traditions as expected by her family, or create a path for herself that may diverge from the path she was expected to follow. This is Volume One of many Volumes to come. I am excited to see more of Jennifer Silverwood's work. Her world-building really grew on me and got to understand the world Vynasha was in. A fantasy filled book with twists and surprises.
