I loved Mr Wrong Number as well, and I feel like a complete idiot because I didn’t realise until 20% in that this is actually book 2 and Jack is Livvie’s brother, even though we literally start this book at Livvie and Colin’s wedding 🤦‍♀️. What follows is a one-night stand that morphs into friendship, a dating app, lots of witty banter, attraction, chemistry, tacos, and one heck of a journey!

And Jack is such a GUY - yes he’s sweet and falling in love and struggling with that, but he could be a bit of a jerk. hallie piper was just as bad– somebody needed to yell at hallie kenji kishimoto style and tell her to grow the fuck up. I need to stop but I'll just say one last thing: the ending was so abrupt I literally thought I had a misprint. She gets a new apartment, a new haircut, and a new wardrobe, but when she logs onto the dating app that she has determined will find her new love, she sees none other than Jack, the guy whose room she snuck out of.the only other two women, in fact, who exist in the first chapter at all and aren't our protagonist. During this dating process, they will be each other’s wing-person, arranging the dates at the same place. Discouraged by the lack of prospects, Jack and Hallie make a wager to see who can find true love first, but when they agree to be fake dates for a weekend wedding, all bets are off. The best way to sum up my feelings about this book is: it's like dating a guy who's a total wildcard. she says during the dates she has another job but it is never mentioned beforehand and with hallie’s track record it is incredibly hard to believe.

Wrong Number with an equally cute friends to lovers romance…Their equally filthy sense of humor makes their connection feel real and their game of constant one-upmanship is a lot of fun. Painter (Betting on You) delivers a charmer of a rom-com with this lively tale of professional wedding objectors. Jack and Hallie also run interference for each other, taking dates to the same bar and bailing early to get tacos if the dates aren’t good. The Love Wager is only my second book by Lynn Painter and so far her writing is fun, full of banter, easy to read, interesting without crazy drama. definitely begins to blur the lines and the effortless chemistry from their one night together resurfaces (or can no longer be ignored).
