Plus there was no moral ending like in his other books: boy in a dress, gangsta granny, grandpa's great escape e.The book is a chapter book but it is equally also a picture book as half of the content is illustrative. I had to look up other books by David Wallace, and next on our bookshelves is GANGSTA GRANNY and CODE NAME BANANAS. Ruth’s world is turned upside down when a flying saucer crash lands on the farm, and she meets Spaceboy, the mysterious occupant of the exotic vessel. It's a nice and semi-inspiring story about a girl and her dog, who live on a farm, and how their lives change after discovering that an "Alien" crash-lands in their garden.

Biography: David Walliams is a literary phenomenon whose books have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into fifty-five languages. Pretty much every page was just a load of silly speech full of puns and jokes, and there was barely anything serious. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Best-known for his novels for children including Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy and Awful Auntie, Walliams has also written a number of picture books including The Slightly Annoying Elephant, working with two of Britain’s most talented illustrators, Quentin Blake and Tony Ross. It's always the same with the whole flying saucer crashing in a cornfield- But I don't get why the whole twist was added: to me, it just ruined the whole story. However, when the soldier announces that they are flying to meet the President, the situation seems to be getting out of control. As always, this new novel is chocka blocka with funny illustrations sharing the action and antics throughout the novel.

Space Boy is a non-stop fun-fest, with tons and tons of action, a courageous heroine, a funny furry friend at her side, and an alien with a very, very big secret. Bursting with action, laugh-out-loud moments and lots of surprises along the way, Spaceboy is the unmissable David Walliams space adventure that all kids will love. The humor is juxtaposed against themes of loneliness and rejection, creating a comedy with empathy and soul.

We meet Ruth, a twelve-year old orphan who was sent to live on an ostrich farm with her terrible, crocodile-looking Aunt Dorothy who loathes her and makes her life miserable. Ruth's terrible life is never to be the same as she struggles to hide the alien from her aunt, the sheriff, the FBI, the CIA, the scientific boffins and even the President of America. A thrill a minute book, Spaceboy is filled with chases – each one of which is different and shows the stretch of Walliam’s imagination. In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake.

As always, Walliams’ text, in combination with illustrations by Adam Stower, is both heartwarming and hilarious, perfect reading material for readers of eight years and older. I loved the writing, the story, the characters, and the illustrations and that is why I can easily see this book becoming a fast favourite with young readers. She spends her days reading comics about alien invasions, doodling UFOs, watching B-movies about Earth being invaded by creatures from Mars… and gazing at the stars through her old, battered telescope. It's the 1960's and space is a hot topic as the USA tries to copy their Russian rivals in the space race. After reluctantly taking in her orphaned relative Ruth, Aunt Dorothy put her straight to work on the farm.

David Walliams, the mastermind behind numerous beloved children's books, takes young readers on an intergalactic journey with his latest masterpiece, "Spaceboy. This really sounds like the movie "Chicken Run": damsel in distress, "flying" boy who to the rescue -but is he really flying? I haven't particularly recommended a Walliams book before due to the questionable characters and themes but I would say this one is worth a read!
