About this deal

However, the album that encapsulates her entire essence and arguably stands as one of the finest in the realm of music due to its profound relevance and unparalleled creativity is undoubtedly Never For Ever. According to Bush, the title alluded to conflicting emotions, good and bad, which pass, as she stated: "we must tell our hearts that it is 'never for ever', and be happy that it's like that". Two years after her first two releases, Kate Bush took her career into her own hands and produced Never For Ever. Acts like Kate Bush enrich this medium with vibrant colours, intriguing graphics, evocative imagery, and even thought-provoking text – it can hold the power to convey messages and themes that sometimes elude the music itself. That Kate Bush rolling around like a squealing 'ninny' like this (Granny imitating her movements from within the sphere) in a great big ball'!

Breathing," about the repercussions of nuclear war, conveys enough passion and vocal curvatures to make her concern sound convincing, while "Army Dreamers" bounces her voice up and down without getting out of hand. Es sind nicht nur die unvergesslichen Geschichten wie "Babooshka" oder "The Wedding List", die begeistern. Beginning production after her 1979 tour, Never for Ever was Bush's second foray into production (her first was for the On Stage EP the previous year), aided by the engineer of Lionheart (1978), Jon Kelly. The Infant Kiss", the story of a governess who is frightened by the adult feelings she has for her young male charge (who is possessed by the spirit of a grown man), was inspired by the 1961 film The Innocents, which in turn had been inspired by The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. Bush’s artistic inspirations from horror literature and cinema were once again prominently featured on this album, with songs like ‘The Infant Kiss’, which tells the story of a governess who grapples with adult emotions for her young male charge, possessed by the spirit of an adult man. What he created firmly resonated with Bush’s inner world, echoing the artistic influences she held dear.

The first two albums had resulted in a particular sound, which was evident in every track, with lush orchestral arrangements supporting the live band sound. There's a much more 'solid' feel to this version, that feels like the original vinyl being played on a VERY good system - the glass breaking/windows opening aren't any more shocking or trebley, but the songs have more 'body' (if that makes sense) and the bass is much more defined - you can really hear Giblin's strings vibrating on 'Breathing' in particular. One thing that did surprise me is that the 'worst move' mispronunciation from Babooshka wasn't addressed - it should have been fairly easy to soften out that 'T', but hey, that's a minor pedantic niggle 😊The packaging is lovely, it's now a gatefold digipak, and having the whole album artwork in your hands is much nicer than the much smaller image and black spine of the jewel case, and this adds to the vinyl-like experience.
