I found this book through the same heartwarming TikTok tale so many have and I love that story; it's beautiful seeing people support one another. The suicide trope was thrown around loosely, which I did not appreciate, it was made fun of and often held against the MC to make her feel bad. By far the most rewarding part has been being a husband to an absolutely amazing woman and father to two incredible children - now adults. While some readers may not enjoy this paranormal twist, it adds an extra layer of intrigue and mystery to the story.

I want to start by saying, I am so happy for this author’s success and hope that this book finds its way to people who love it. The reason for my two stars is quite simple: 1) the dialogue is “cheesy” to the point of being unrealistic. For a story about grief and internal struggles, it all boils down to an over the top action piece that I struggle to believe any 16 year old could actually go through. As Leigh and Max delve deeper, they realize that the key to unraveling the mystery lies within a long-lost artifact hidden somewhere within the manor. As Warner later explained in a TikTok of his own, when Swearenjin approached him, “I was just so eager to talk to anybody.Even if all the purchases were on Kindle, not everyone can speed read through 265 pages, especially people who don't seem to read much in the first place.

You need a great takeoff, a smooth flight to the destination, and a safe and smooth ending that satisfies. Before professionally turning his hand to writing, Shawn was a paratrooper, a pediatric therapist, and an engineer. Navigating through everything wasn’t so lonely thanks to two or should I say multiple people lol one of them being her cousin Myra who was the sweetest. I instantly downloaded it on my kindle, and before I go any further, as a mother of a 12 year old - I would not let him read this or recommend it to any one under the age of 16 - please check the disclaimers and trigger warnings. I hope there are others like this coming, but perhaps it would be better if the book remains a one off and not one of many, it has a stand-alone quality that I particularly like. While reading I often felt very confused, I had to go back and reread the paragraph because I thought I had missed something. They delve into the mansion’s dark history, unearthing secrets about the Simmons and Pierce families, whose lives were intertwined with tragedy and betrayal. My comment is about where the murder “mystery” leads, this was my least favourite part, it was more complicated than the rest of the book and not as interesting, it didn’t fit with the book vibe in my opinion.

It was just supposed to be, ‘Hey, here’s a fellow neighbor who’s just struggling and I wanted to help him out,’ ” Swearenjin later told Dallas’s WFAA. Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor” is a thrilling and entertaining book that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. Myra (19) describes going skinny dipping in a nearby river at age 10, which really didn't add to the plot and felt weird and unnecessary. I especially liked the relationship that built between Leigh and the two versions of the ghost, it gave the characters good development. It wasn't well written, didn't feel like a ghost story (or a murder mystery for that matter), has some creepy undertones, and just didn't sit well with me. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Although it has heavier themes in like murder, suicide and some violence this manages to stay light hearted and not too serious.

I had to show support as a fellow book lover and avid reader, I loved the traction and the love the book community, as well as the world was showing Shawn. I didn't see the reveal with Nacho (OMG that name, I cannot) coming but Miss Tree was a glaring red flag from her introduction until her exit.Racing against time, they must decipher cryptic clues and overcome numerous obstacles, both supernatural and human, to find the artifact and put the restless spirits to rest. And the entire part where the intruder is killed by Big Bodie and everyone jumps straight to it must be the sixteen year old that beat him to death. A different type of story compared to other books I’ve read but I truly think this book is for everyone. It was a break in typical content from the creator, whose viewers averaged in the low thousands for videos that primarily featured his home renovation projects. Warner, an Army veteran who has worked as a child therapist and later as a software engineer, had only recently decided to pursue his dream of writing full-time.
