It was of course the lead single from the album and deservedly so as it showcases Lzzy Hale’s vocal talent that I feel is second to none in the female rock voice department at the moment, I mean this girl can sing!

I Miss The Misery” and “Freak Like Me” are quite anthemic and surely will be a guaranteed position on their live setlist. The song is very much a love song, based on its lyrics of the age-old story of a girl who is only truly happy when she’s by her man, just told in a very original and modern style. After scoring two top 10 singles (“I Get Off” and “It’s Not You”) from their self-titled debut and touring steadily for two years with acts as diverse as Shinedown, Stone Sour, Disturbed, Megadeth, Papa Roach, Godsmack and countless others, Pennsylvania quartet Halestorm are back with their second full-length, The Strange Case of…. Sometimes I need a shoulder to cry on, sometimes I need to wear a pair of jeans instead of fishnets.

The first single and video from the album "Love Bites (So Do I)" won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. From the first time that Ι listened to Halestorm I was pretty sure that this band was going to blow our minds! Those of you that have brought the deluxe edition will be treated with three extra bonus tracks, a couple of which are possibly stronger then the album tracks themselves, "Don't Know How To Stop" and "Hate It When You See Me Cry.

This time, the band gathered three of the albums softer tracks and put them one after the other, perfectly in the middle of the album. The album then gets right back in to heavy swing with Daughters of Darkness; a song partially inspired by the late great Ronnie James Dio and his song Fearfrom Black Sabbath’s The Devil You Know. Josh Smith is an excellent bass player, Joe Hottinger is a guitarist who's solos go somewhere - not just 1000 meaningless notes per second, he does something with them. Even though we are used to Lzzy playing the guitar in most songs in "Break In" she plays the piano and in Carnival Of Madness Amy Lee sang with her on stage cause she loved the back vocals of the song and she wanted to sing it! I've only discovered Halestorm very recently, coming across the video for Love Bites on Kerrang and loving the frantic energy of it.

It’s been three years since the release of Halestorm’s debut in 2009 and this new album has been a long time coming! Though a short song, it gets its point across with its lyrics, and leads the albums listener in to the next track; the piano ballad Break In. For those who don’t already know, this is the woman who most recently set the bar for all singers, both female AND male. Last but not least is "Here's To Us"… This song was performed on "Glee" but they had to change the lyrics to be more appropriate for the show! It seems a strange decision to put three mellow songs in a row; “Beautiful With You”, “In Your Room”, “Break In”, but they’re all great tracks. Here’s To Us” closes the standard edition of the album which is in the vein of a retrospective/celebratory track; I can’t quite think what this reminds me of, but it could be more of a parody.Getting the listener back in to hearing electric guitars and heavy drums, but with a chorus that makes the song sound like an opera, with its dramatic use of organs and vocals. Her voice can go from a belting roar down to soft beautiful, and she never misses a note in the process.

Always in my opinion it's another song that indirectly gives a message that you don’t have to care about what others think of you and you got to do the thing you want no matter what! Then when the band finished the Uproar Tour in May 2011, they entered the studio with producer Howard Benson (3 Doors Down, Seether, Three Days Grace) and tracked one of the heaviest songs of their career, “Love Bites (So Do I),” which went on to earn them a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Halestorm’s ‘The Strange Case of Halestorm’ album is repressed on a single clear LP and is a one-time pressing.

It clocks in at 4:45, which makes it the longest song on the album, but it’s very easy to get lost while listening to it, making it seem like 4:45 just isn’t enough. It is not the heavy hard-as-nails song that the first four tracks were; it’s more of a rock opera of sorts.
