The GT-001's 200 presets and 200 user patches are selected via a front panel data knob and you can assign four of them to 'Favorite' buttons. If you’re totally new to USB recording, digital FX in general, or just want a “plug and play” solution to make some noise, the GT-001 definitely isn’t a good choice. It’s important to note that hugely influential music of this type was made in spite of the limitations of digital effects, not because of how they could stand in for their real-world counterparts. It has absolutely everything you could possibly want, if you’re the type of person who wants to connect a guitar (or bass) to a computer and get recording, with a range and flexibility of FX that is superb.

Perfect for DAW recording and production, the Boss GT-001 also features guitar to MIDI functionality and multi channel USB capabilities. I’ll update this post further with additional thoughts as I progress with the Boss GT-001 effect processor. The hub still feeds into the same USB bus on the system, so the signal from the keyboard is going through the hub, into the same “hardware place” (for simplicity) where the GT-001 is connected. You might go for a USB microphone and plug that directly into the computer, or you might go for an XLR and get a separate interface, but this shouldn’t be a thing! I have a USB 3 bus, to which the BOSS GT-001 is connected, and my USB keyboard is also connected to the same bus.I co-opted 4 of the factory presets and tweaked to my tastes and made a preset for each of the 4 push buttons. The box works great for patch change an CC info from any MIDI device, however, I am unable to get the GT-001 to receive MIDI clock. Much of his working life, though, has been spent behind the mixing desk, during which time he has built up a solid collection of the guitars, amps and pedals needed to cover just about any studio session. It would have been logical to bundle the installer with Air, or just put a prompt on the screen if it detects you don’t have it.

In addition, the ability to power the GT-001 with either the included AC adapter or a computer’s USB bus offers great convenience for home setups, studio sessions, and mobile recording with a laptop PC. It is an invaluable addition to their home studio and includes some nice envelope effects, such as the Defretter.Show me common problem-solving techniques, like, “oh, I see your output level is clipping, would you like me to insert a limiter into the chain for you, or perhaps you want to turn down that super-death-metal overdrive setting you added earlier? They mention that it has a ton of presets that are all editable on their PC or laptop, and that the device makes things simple in terms of editing every. Simply utilise it's intuitive interface to dial up world-class preset tones to transform your guitar in seconds. Edit; Realized I wasn't clear enough; is the Boss a good enough interface to replace the UR22 is what I'm mainly wanting to know. On top of that, a newly developed guitar-to-MIDI function lets you have fun with Guitar Friend Jam and other computer programs from a normal guitar input-no special pickup required!

Clean, semi and a couple of the Van Halen sorta ones…I can adjust to my liking…to me it sounds killer through my crappy little home setup and does absolutely everything I need it to do for practicing. But I could not make the midi part work right, for some reason the pitch gets wrong after editing in Garage Band. Easily capture guitar, microphone or acoustic instruments and revitalise the bland, boring tones you hear on every record into something new and creative with ease. Jack for connecting an expression pedal or up to two footswitches for real-time effects control and patch changes. In addition to the guitar input, an XLR mic input is included for capturing vocals or acoustic instruments, and the built-in USB audio/MIDI interface provides a direct connection for creating music. At the moment I'm using a UR22mkII with reaper and amp sims, but this cool little Boss unit caught my eye recently.
