The rugged unibody aluminium construction provides excellent cooling performance and a sturdy unit that is also lightweight, while the newly designed head band features a curved rubber pad at the back for a comfortable fit to the head and a silicone strip on the inside of the head band to channel away sweat as well as provide a non-slip fit. Everything to get you up and running with this headlamp is included – just remove the isolator on the battery before charging, and away you go.

I’ve said it a lot of times before, but it bears repeating – I’ve yet to use a Nitecore light that I haven’t been impressed with the build quality of. Two types of white light (which can burst up to 2000lm) and red light can be used in different scenarios. SST40 focused light is good for hiking, 1x SST40 floodlight can be used at camping, and red light is good especially in summer (it doesn’t attract insects). Three flashes is above 50% power, two flashes is below 50% power and one flash is below 10% power and the battery should be charged or replaced. The Nitecore HC68 headlamp accepts rechargeable 18650 batteries (except for flat-top cells), but can accept a pair of CR123 batteries if needed.Nitecore HC68 has 5 levels of depth white light (Spotlight) and 5 levels of alluvial white light (Floodlight), 2 special levels (Beacon and SOS) and 3 levels of auxiliary red light. The HC68 can also use two CR123A lithium metal non rechargeable batteries or two rechargeable RCR123A lithium-ion batteries, however the turbo setting is unavailable if you are using these batteries and they also cannot be charge inside the torch. The Nitecore HC68 head torch has a maximum output of 2000 lumens from the 2 x Luminus SST-40-W LEDs and is powered by 1 x high drain 18650 li-ion battery.

The HC68 itself doesn’t have any voltage warnings – on bench power, I was able to wind the power down to 2.To access it, just unscrew the cap to the left of the front (above the cap you can see the words Open with arrow and USB symbol). You can rotate the light in the band to face up or down, with a 180 degree field of rotation – plenty of uses for that. The headband, as for the previous HC65 v2, is breathable and guarantees perfect adherence and excellent comfort having a soft rubber pad on the back that allows you to comfortably wear the front for a prolonged time.
