You will find yourself more often than not flipping back and forth through the book trying to find something or reference something you thought you saw earlier. In the case of Clank In Space It takes two relatively simple concepts and breeds depth by melding them together. It’s okay on an initial read, but referencing a specific rule later can be frustrating as you need to figure out if the rule falls under concepts such as the Mission, Plan, Mark, Getaway, or End of the Line. When doing so they will add their coloured Clank cubes to the Clank area and when Lord Eradikus attacks the Clank is put into a bag and damage is dealt for each cube drawn of a player’s colour. The modular board includes some double-sided tiles so you can configure the ship in a multitude of different ways so it never gets stale, and you can also download the free Renegade Game Studios app to play a campaign, which also includes a solo adventure mode.

The Cloning Vats offer you a sneaky way to protect yourself against bounty hunters (those pesky red cubes that show up near the end of the game). So ultimately you are moving around the tiled board trying to retrieve an artifact and then move back to the beginning close to where you started and get on an escape pod and get the heck outta there.

You can fight monsters, focus on movement so that you can escape sooner, collect valuable but otherwise useless trinkets. Mixing and matching the sides allows for varied difficulty and unpredictability; something that was lacking from the original game (although the two-sided board did add some variance) but is gladly a part of this experience.

A single map to play on (well, two, but after your first couple of games you’d always play on the second), and one that unfortunately encouraged a dead sprint to the closest treasure and back out before the dragon could mummer a single, confused, ‘hobbits’? A Deck-Building Adventure, with players building a personal deck of cards throughout the course of the game, with the cards allowing them to move through the spaceship, attack things, acquire new cards, and — oh yeah — make noise to attract Lord Eradikus and potentially seal their own doom. come home and lead your friends and/or family on a deckbuilding adventure they’ll want to play time and again! It gives you more to think about as you may be going back and forth to the modules to make sure you hack dataports in two of them. Clank In Space also comes with tons of tokens, a set of unique player minis, and one for Lord Eradikus, as well as some generic cubes and a nifty bag to pull them from.During the game players will accumulate Clank from all the noise they are making when running around the ship. These cards are purchased normally from the market row but they have a green title instead of blue (or red for the enemies you defeat). These require you to contribute a cube of your colour into what will eventually be a ‘boss bag’ from which cubes are drawn to dish out damage.
