Chainsaw Man, vol. 14] (in Japanese). Shueisha. Archived from the original on April 3, 2023 . Retrieved February 19, 2023. Hodgkins, Crystalyn (December 6, 2020). "Chainsaw Man Manga Ends on December 14 With 'Important Announcement' ". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on February 17, 2021 . Retrieved December 6, 2020. The resolution of this story arc is surprisingly emotional and philosophical. It perfectly subverts the simplistic, comical and sometimes downright stupid origins of where the story first began. This bait and switch tactic was meticulously planned out by the author to pull the rug out from under the reader’s feet by steering the narrative into a much more serious direction and he did a good job pulling it off. Ressler, Karen (November 26, 2018). "Viz's Shonen Jump to Preview Chainsaw Man by Fire Punch's Fujimoto". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on March 4, 2021 . Retrieved September 14, 2019.

1[ Chainsaw Man, vol. 1] (in Japanese). Shueisha. Archived from the original on October 27, 2020 . Retrieved September 14, 2019. my biggest problem with this manga. The dialogues were just poorly written. Very artificial and straight to the point, sometimes just retelling what I already knew. This way of "telling instead of showing" stoped me from getting close to the world or characters, almost felt like sitting in a classroom where everything is just being said and repeated in a stiff way without letting you to observe and learn for yourself. I could hear the author's voice in my head saying :Turned out my brain is so small. I couldn't find the genius of this manga. Neither did I find realistic characters. Chainsaw Man, Vol. 13". Viz Media. Archived from the original on October 10, 2023 . Retrieved September 19, 2023. The biggest loophole of Makima is that she wasn't able to recognize faces, but she can memorize scent. She knows the scent of the Chainsaw since chapter 1, which is why it was easy for her to get to Denji, but never did she pay attention to how Denji smells, which got her killed. Chainsaw Man, Vol. 14". Viz Media. Archived from the original on October 26, 2023 . Retrieved October 19, 2023.

Makima turned out to be a brilliant villain and it was awesome to see a female antagonist in such an intimidating, intelligent and powerful role. Not many manga out there have pulled something like that off. In fact, not many stories in general have done a central female antagonist so well. Ressler, Karen (November 25, 2018). "Shonen Jump Magazine Launches 3 New Manga in December". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on May 3, 2021 . Retrieved September 14, 2019. Chainsaw Man, Vol. 10". Viz Media. Retrieved July 14, 2022. I’m glad that there was a seed planted for Power to get revived. It was really heartwarming when she called him the first friend she ever had. These two HAVE to hook up in the future. It would be incredibly painful to friendzone these two forever! I’m also glad Power’s death isn’t going to be permanent because she was my favorite character in the series so far! Chainsaw Man, vol. 9] (in Japanese). Shueisha. All these things made me feel the author himself didn't like this story and was not enjoying and respecting his own work, so I was surprised there's going to be a part 2.
