One of the best yet one of the cheapest – this is ideal for those working on a budget who still want a quality finish.

The only thing we would say it be extra careful with chalk paint when painting protruding areas as they can be particularly prone to paint build ups. Like most chalk paints, this one has minimal VOCs and as such little to no odour. There are only a handful of colour choices to choose from in the Dulux Cupboard Paint which is fine if you’re happy with those but if not you’d need to get something mixed. If you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen and are going to replace your kitchen cabinets, you might be able to save yourself time, money and effort by giving them a new paint job.

CONS: I love Frenchic paint for the ease, the matt finish and the gorgeous colours, but personally I don’t think I would use it on a kitchen. Whilst I love a matt finish, I think having a slight sheen on such a high-traffic and grubby area is the best way to go. Having said that, wax or sealant on top would probably do the job. If you’re looking for a white kitchen cabinet paint that lasts and doesn’t yellow, this is the paint for you.

Overall this durable satin paint has a number of attractive colours to choose from and can save you thousands in renovation costs. CONS: There’s the odd bad review about durability (but as I said before they all have a few) but one thing that did come up a few times was an issue with the likeness of the colour. One of the greys is said to more of a blue, and there were some colour complaints with other colours too – so have a look at photos of other people’s projects before you buy to be sure it’s what you want. While branded as a furniture paint, Rust Oleum’s chalk paint is suitable for use on a variety of interior surfaces including melamine and MDF. The paint sets in an attractive mid-sheen finish and it’s handy to know that the formula is non-yellowing in case you were thinking of painting your kitchen cupboards white. Durability is as expected with a satin finish – it’s tough, long lasting and can easily be washed. This is the most durable specific kitchen cupboard paint on the market but does take awhile to dry. If you’re OK with that, this might be the paint for you.
