Far less common than Empire Handgunners and Empire Archers, the establishment of units of Empire Crossbowmen was influenced largely by the Tileans, where the weapon is often used by their mercenary companies, and thus are far more common in the south of the Empire. The occasion when fierce loyalty to the regiment is most on display is when soldiers are confronted by those of a rival regiment.

Halberds: Probably one of the most underestimated uits out there, I currently run a horde of 50x /a warior priest as well as my BSB to all them to get hatred in CC as well as allowing them to stick around.

I always just skip the monkeyface and put some other head on instead and I also place the shoeless guys in the backrow. The state regiments have evolved a highly effective style of fighting, although each regiment is a independant entity but they can also from smaller detachments to support other regiments, flanking the main formation. Considering that the kit was not designed for these particular fantasy troop choices they are a pretty good fit for them.

These troops can be trained quickly, especially in emergencies, and can replace casualties without upheaval.

The footsloggers must cover every inch under their own steam, carry all their kit, and even forage for their own food. Since the time of Sigmar, the Empire has maintained armies of professional soldiers who defend the Emperor's lands. of the torsos are wearing cloth gambesons which could pass for either un-armoured or lightly armoured. This is a simple mod to add more visual armour to the empire state troops, while not giving them full plate armor so there is still a visual difference to units like the Empire Knights and Reiksguard Knights.

It is also common for regiments to have different coloured cuffs, sleeves, or other minor details whilst retaining the overall colour of their state. The mould lines on the Perry kit were there if you looked hard enough but they were so faint that I did wonder if even really needed to scrape them off. However GW’s fictional Empire faction is heavily derived from the historical place and period for which the Perry kit was designed. The Perry kit comes with some weird bases that probably make sense for historical games but which are a bit unusable for Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

The GW kit in comparison was fairly horrible for thick mould lines, which were hard to ignore and not so very easy to remove.

For peasants the army might be their only chance to leave their local area, for a desperate street thug their only course away from a life of crime, for a respectable farmer a genuine chance to see the world.Warhammer Fantasy Battles requires models to be individually removable when taking casualties, but each Perry base seems designed to take models in pairs or groups of four. I get that someone might not want to make the kit partly of crossbows and partly of guns but go all the way on one type.
